About Us

The Muslim Students Association at the University of Utah is group of Muslim Students working for the sake of God, to achieve unity, justice and God’s pleasure. We are an affiliate of MSA – National, the first Islamic organization in North America, established in 1963 for the same goals.

The embodiment of the MSA’s goals comes two-fold:

First: The MSA strives to be a resource to the Muslim Students on campus, providing religious accommodations such as prayer halls every Friday, to being an advising entity on such issues as academics, religion and social life, just to name a few.

Second: The MSA works towards educating the larger non-Muslim student body on campus, about who we are as Muslims. Our way of life (Islam) is the most misunderstood religion in America today, which makes our responsibility even larger. During no other time has this issue been as crucial as it is now, where our image as Muslims is in disarray, and many stereotypes and lies exist about us. Taking this into action, we have held an Islam Awareness Week for three years now during our fall semster. We also hold different presentations on campus about Islam or topics related, many being for different classes and departments. We also work hand-in-hand with the Student Interfaith Council, a council made up of 7 different faith groups, working the betterment of our community and the members of our respective faith groups.
